From the Treatment Room
Over the past week, I’ve had some interesting questions from clients in the treatment room, and I thought I’d share a few of them with you.
One question was:
“What has been the most popular treatment this summer?”
Without a doubt, the Korean Lash Lift has been the most requested treatment.
And it’s easy to understand why. It makes your summer beauty routine wonderfully simple, with no daily upkeep - just beautifully lifted natural lashes and that fresh, beach-ready look every day of your holiday.
Another question I've been asked quite a lot recently is:
"If you were starting out in the beauty industry today, which treatment would you choose to build a business around?"
It's a fascinating question, and one that's come from people looking to change career, start their own beauty journey, or simply create an additional income that fits around family life and other commitments. As I prepare for the next stage of training here at SLS Académie, it's a question I've been reflecting on myself.
For me, the answer would be nails.
Of course, every treatment has its place, but nail services have something quite special. Clients return every three to four weeks, allowing you to build genuine relationships over time rather than seeing someone infrequently over the course of the year.
What starts as a nail appointment often becomes much more than that. We celebrate milestones together, chat through life's ups and downs, sometimes share a few tears, but much more often plenty of laughter.
It's a little pocket of time where clients can switch off, relax and leave feeling like the very best version of themselves.
That's one of the reasons I love teaching nails. You're not simply learning a treatment; you're learning how to build lasting client relationships and create a business that people want to return to, month after month.
One Thing I'd Tell Someone Starting Today
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone starting a career in beauty, it would be this: never stop learning. Trends change, products evolve and techniques improve, but clients will always remember how you made them feel.
Master the technical skills, but never underestimate the value of kindness, listening and building trust. Those qualities are what keep clients returning year after year.
Looking Ahead at SLS
September is shaping up to be an exciting month here at SLS. Alongside welcoming clients into the studio, I'll also be preparing to welcome new students as we continue to grow SLS Académie. I can't wait to share more with you over the coming weeks.
